Lafarge and Bamburi Cement Ltd. contribute towards Youth Leadership Development

The Lafarge group and Bamburi Cement Ltd. has joined forces to support the AIESEC International Congress (IC) by sponsoring Ksh. 1.2 million towards their forthcoming event. This venture demonstrates the dedication shown towards developing versatile and responsible leaders of the future.

About AIESEC International Congress (IC) 2011
AIESEC, the worlds' largest student run organization, will this year host 700 young leaders from 111 countries and territories, along with senior management of over 100 companies. The congress will take place in August from 20-22 in Nairobi. The theme for the congress is "Carving Young Leaders For A Sustainable Future," and will focus on many issues such as sustainability, technology, youth led impact movements, ethical business, emerging markets, and labor mobility. 

Bamburi Cement Ltd. contributes to youth sports development in the country

Bamburi contributed to the JKA/WF Kenya Association 2011 Karate Team with a part sponsorship of Kshs. 400,000 towards the tournaments scheduled to happen in Tanzania and Thailand. This sponsorship will help the event in covering the transport, seminar and camp training costs for the Dar Es Salaam- Tanzania event.

The story of Owen and Mzee

Found stranded on the Malindi beach after the 2004 Tsunami, Owen (hippopotamus) was rescued and brought to Haller Park where he was adopted by Mzee (a 130 year old tortoise) as his surrogate mother. It was this rare relationship that made Owen one of the famous animals worlwide.
