Bamburi Cement Ltd. Bursary Scheme

Bamburi Cement Ltd. set up an undergraduate bursary scheme in 1998. We grant the top 5 and needy students in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) from Mombasa District an undergraduate bursary that covers tuition, to pursue further education in any of the local universities.

Green Schools Project Activities

The Green Schools Project is a Corporate Social Responsibility Project that was introduced by Bamburi Cement Ltd in 2003. The program is aimed at partnering with schools and local communities country wide to protect and conserve the environment by planting tree seedlings provided by the company free of charge. The project has so far donated tree seedlings to around 134 schools across the country and planted over 500,000 trees.

Cement for Schools Project

Cement for schools is a project that aims to support national recovery from the 2008 post election violence by re- building 118 public and wholly government sponsored schools affected during this period. The project is run by the Ministry of Education through the School Infrastructure Management Unit (SIMU), in conjunction with Bamburi Cement Ltd.

 

A donation of 18,000bags has been provided by Bamburi towards the efforts of rehabilitating and the reconstruction works of public and wholly government sponsored schools across the country.
