Bamburi Cement on behalf of the LafargeHolcim Foundation, would like to call for submissions in the LafargeHolcim Awards. The Awards seek leading projects of professionals as well as bold ideas from the Next Generation that combine sustainable construction solutions with architectural excellence.

The Awards Next Generation category seeks visionary design concepts and bold ideas at a preliminary stage of design, including design studio and research work. To participate in this category, authors may not be older than 30 years. Students and young professionals are welcome to enter the Awards main category with projects that have reached an advanced stage of design.
In 2017/2018- 5th cycle of the Regional LH Awards, Mariam Kamara and Yasaman Esmaili walked away with the coveted Gold Award in Middle East and Africa Region for their project that combined spiritual tradition with modern knowledge in Niger. This was done by transforming a mosque into a library with an creating a platform to pass on knowledge for inhabitants of Dadanji Village in Niger.
Sustainability in building is rapidly gaining significance in the Middle East Africa region –particularly among female professionals and young graduates in architecture and
engineering. This was clearly seen at the prize-handover ceremony for the regional LafargeHolcim Awards in Nairobi, Kenya. The majority of the 12 prize-winning projects dealt with education and the contemporary promotion of traditional manual skills.
Valid entries from Kenya went up from 8 in 2014 to 22, so sign up or share this with someone you know could submit their project. You never know, could be the next Regional or Global winner!
